Sponsor an Entry into the 2026 I Am Writing Competitions

The I Am Writing Competitions are entering their FIFTH year! The competitions open on Monday 30 March 2026 and close on Thursday 14 May 2026 at 1pm BST.

Spanning TWELVE genres for various audiences, the genres are split as follows:

Children's hosts four categories: Picture Books, Chapter Books, Middle Grade, Young Adult/New Adult/Teen

Adult fiction has two genres: Commercial, Literary/Upmarket

and five sub-genres: Crime/Thriller/Mystery, Historical, Horror, Romance, Science Fiction/Fantasy

And for the first time a Non-Fiction category is also available including (but not limited to) topics such as: Art/Culture, Cookery, Health and Fitness, History, Medical, Philosophy, Science, Self-help, Travel, Biography and Autobiography (Memoir).

Success!

Over the past four years representation has been offered to multiple writers as a result of entering and publishing deals secured. Some books are even out in the wild now with more to follow! Sponsorship

Free of charge places are available upon application for low income writers, full-time carers and writers living with disability and discounted entries available upon application for underrepresented writers and students in full-time education.

Funding these places is only possible through sponsorship so any help you can offer in supporting these places is greatly appreciated by I Am in Print and the writers who are awarded the opportunity to enter, especially if they would otherwise not have the funds to do so. These writers all deserve the chance to find their rightful place on a bookshelf. You can donate by clicking the Book button!

What's special about the I Am Writing Competitions?

* To ensure that more genres have an opportunity, there are twelve competitions to choose from

* Each genre is read and judged by the professional literary agent / publisher responsible for that category - we do not use readers to narrow down the entries first, making this competition very unique.

* Each competition will have its own shortlist, giving more writers the opportunity to receive praise for their writing skills.

* The fee is kept as low as possible at £16 per entry. In order to be as transparent as possible, where the money for entries goes is summarised on the I Am in Print website.

* A range of prizes are on offer, such as online Agent121 feedback, cash prizes, book tokens and, for the first time this year, a 7-day writing retreat on the Greek isle of Naxos, sponsored by our friends at Naxos Creative. Please see our website for details of the prizes for each competition.
